Older folks health and fitness are a major issue for everyone. The elderly have an increased risk of getting age related diseases due to their weakened immune system and age factor. People of old age are more susceptible to developing heart problems, cancer, strokes, hypertension and osteoporosis etc. Old age also increases the chances of getting diabetes and heart diseases. To avoid such health hazards in old age people should take care of their health, but also exercise regularly and maintain a good weight to keep their body fit. Old people health & fitness is important and is a great help for their overall well being. People of old age should get a proper diet and take care of their health as well as dieting, should start from the childhood stage.

Try and and implement of the following tips into your daily routine:

o Food items should be nutritious and balanced so they will give you maximum energy and stamina to do physical activities. Old people should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and low fat milk products. People suffering from chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart should consume extra fiber rich food and drink green tea.

o Healthy snacks should be taken in to replace unhealthy ones. A good example of healthy snacks is dried apricots, almonds, pecans and pistachios. If you have low fat milk products, choose them instead of those containing high sugar content and saturated fat.

o You need to rest a lot when you are exercising for long hours. Make sure you don’t rush your body and relax before and after exercising. If you have any muscle pains or any other problem related to the muscles, immediately consult your doctor.

o Exercises should be planned with people of all ages in mind. If you have small children at home, then try not to push them too much. Remember, the child is not in the same health condition as an adult.

o Make some fitness games as an alternative to other sports. This will keep your kids interested in this game and you will have a good bonding time together. The children can also learn new skills while playing this game. You can also practice this game at home if you have a little bit of extra space.

o People of old age should make healthy choices of food for good old people’s fitness. Avoid junk food which is high in calories and salt.
