As a baby boomer myself, I know just how much fun swimming is for seniors, but I’ve noticed that many seniors I see in my neighborhood aren’t always getting as much as they should from their time in the pool. The common reasons are that they don’t have a full body workout routine, or they don’t know about the great workouts that seniors can get through swimming. A lot of seniors find it easier than they thought it would be, and it’s a great way to start living longer.

Seniors swimmers typically follow the same basic pattern as an active swimmer would. Keep your pace steady and maintain your pace even when you don’t need to dive into the water for aerobic exercise. Especially if you don’t like to put your body in the water, such as the crawl or freestyle swim method, you can perform both the freestyle or the breast stroke, including the back stroke, if you like chatting with other people while you swim. You also need to stretch before you go swimming, especially after a long day at work, so I suggest that you stretch before going. Also, it’s important to make sure you have all your required accessories for a successful swimming for seniors program. This includes a water-resistant swimsuit and goggles if you will be participating in any water-based activities.

Seniors who participate in swimming for seniors programs find that they enjoy swimming a lot more than when they were younger. They find that it gives them a chance to interact with others who share the same interest as them, and it gives them a chance to learn more about the sport they love. Also, you don’t have to wait until you’re older than ten years old to start swimming for seniors program.
