Aged Care Facilities

1 Dec 2020

Aged Care Facilities are privately and government funded organisations that provide extended health care for elderly people. Home Care Providers is agencies and individual staff that work to offer care in the community and away from the medical facility, such as residential care and non-medical care.

The three types of care facilities are funded by public, private, or a combination of both. The government provides many programs that subsidise the costs of maintaining senior homes. Health care insurance companies and private health care providers typically provide the funds for the health care of aged people.

Government funded senior homes offer more affordable and personalised services than private homes. However, they are not for everybody, especially those with medical conditions that require long term care. In addition, most government funded senior homes have a set length of stay or duration of service based on Medicare or Medicaid coverage.

Private, nonprofit services offer services that are much more customised. Many private, nonprofit services offer services such as personalised, one on one support for each resident. These services may include personal care and education services, respite care, assisted living or specialised care for special needs. They also provide services for a long term care facility or skilled nursing facility. Some of these services may be available free, some at reduced rates and others at an annual fee.

Government financed aged care facilities typically provide more extensive health care services. These include more comprehensive care coordination and management. This means that the care services offered by a funded aged care facility may have better services, greater access to care, and a greater degree of personalised care services.

As the population ages, aged care facilities will continue to grow. To meet the growing demand for quality care services, aged care facilities need to develop plans and services to meet the needs of their patients and clients.

There are many organisations that provide leadership, resources and programs to aged care facilities. Some organisations provide training for aged care facilities staff, and others to provide technical assistance and consulting on new models and strategies.

There are many agencies and private companies that are dedicated to providing health care to aged and disabled people. Many organisations provide leadership in public policy and in developing the programs and policies necessary to meet the needs of aging people. They work in partnership with aged care facilities to ensure that the aging facilities have access to the appropriate resources to meet the needs of their elderly patients.

Most aged care facilities provide services such as medical home placement and respite care, group activities, therapeutic recreation and medical transportation for seniors. Some elderly centers also provide services such as health coaching, housekeeping and laundry services.
